The United States on Wednesday (July 31st) decided to impose sanctions on Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif. Washington aims to further increase their campaign of "maximum pressure" on the Iranian regime, which they accuse of destabilizing the Middle East.
The EU is opposed to this US administration policy, in an attempt to save the 2015 nuclear deal with Tehran.
