The EU Council approved the former Foreign Minister of Spain, Josep Borrell, as the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, APA reports citing TASS.
"The EU Council decided to appoint Josep Borrell as the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy from the time the [European] Commission’s work ended until October 31, 2024," the document says.
This decision was made via written procedure without a meeting of the EU Council.
