The Turkish Foreign Ministry has issued a statement regarding US President Joe Biden's naming of the 1915 events as "genocide", APA reports.

Turkish Foreign Ministry said that statements about the events of 1915, which are not related to historical facts and international law, are not valid: "We reject statements and decisions that falsify and distort historical facts with political comments, and strongly condemn those who insist on this mistake.
Today's unsuccessful statement by US President Joe Biden, which repeats the mistake made in 2021. One-sided and biased approaches in history, which serve no purpose other than creating hostility, are morally problematic and politically motivated.  Turkey respectfully remembers the suffering of the entire Ottoman population, including the Armenians.  We reject attempts to politicize these pains.  Turkey considers it important to investigate the events of 1915 in an impartial, objective, scientific and legal manner.  For this purpose, Turkey proposed the establishment of a joint history commission and opened all its archives.  Turkey strives for peace and stability in the region and the world, and for the spirit of cooperation to come to the fore.  The normalization initiative started with Armenia is another manifestation of this concept."
