The UK television channel BBC has responded to a complaint filed by the Georgian government, said Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, APA's local bureau reports.
The speaker noted that the television channel stood by the journalistic materials presented in a documentary produced about Georgia.
“We will follow the procedure. Our lawyers are already working on the next complaint in accordance with UK legislation,” Papuashvili added.
It should be noted that Georgia’s ruling Georgian Dream party filed an official complaint with the BBC last month, demanding an apology and the removal of the materials.
Recall that in a report aired by the BBC in December last year, it was alleged that toxic chemical substances dating back to World War I were used during the dispersal of protest rallies held in Tbilisi in 2024. The State Security Service of Georgia immediately launched an investigation and proved that no prohibited substances were used during the unrest in that period.
