Charges have been brought against ten individuals in Georgia in connection with a “call center” case, APA’s local bureau reports, citing the Georgian Prosecutor General’s Office.
The individuals are accused of fraud and money laundering committed by an organized criminal group. One of the accused is former Georgian Chief Prosecutor Otar Partskhaladze.
Another defendant in the case is well-known journalist and founder of the publication Kronika Plus, Eliso Kiladze, who was detained in Tbilisi earlier today.
In December of last year, Otar Partskhaladze was accused of organizing the intentional murder of businessman Levan Jangveladze. Authorities previously stated that an international search would be launched for the former chief prosecutor, who holds Russian citizenship.
Partskhaladze served as Georgia’s Chief Prosecutor in 2013. He was appointed on November 7 of that year and resigned on December 30.
