PACE winter session starts today

PACE winter session starts today

Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation will also attend the session, APA reports.

First plenary meeting of the winter session will be started at 14.30 by Baku time. The parliamentarians will elect the president of the Assembly and his deputies at first and then will hear reports of PACE Bureau and standing commissions. Chairperson of PACE Committee of Ministers Micheline Calmy-Rey and Secretary General Tjorborn Jagland are expected to address the session.

Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou and Italian foreign minister Franco Frattini will deliver speeches on the second day of the session. Democratic institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, fulfillment of the Council of Europe Convention on Prevention of Human Trafficking, corruption in the court system, as well as situation in the Middle East will also be on agenda. OSCE Representative for Freedom of Media will make report on freedom of media.

On January 28, the session will focus on the subjects of false pandemics threat to human health, solution of property problems of refugees and internally displaced persons.

On the last day, the session will be devoted to the discussion of biodiversities and climate changes.
