A drone attempting to violate Azerbaijan’s state border has been neutralized, the State Border Service told APA.
As a result of border search and operational measures carried out within the framework of ensuring reliable protection of the state border and combating smuggling and illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs, the smuggling of a total of 41 kilograms and 168 grams of narcotics from the Islamic Republic of Iran into the Republic of Azerbaijan has been prevented in recent days.
Specifically, 6 kilograms and 478 grams of marijuana were discovered in the service area of the “Göytepe” border detachment of the Border Troops of the State Border Service, while 24 kilograms and 90 grams of marijuana were found in the service area of the “Lankaran” border detachment.
In the service area of the “Horadiz” border detachment, a drone attempting to transport narcotics by violating the state border was neutralized.
During an inspection of the scene, 10 kilograms and 600 grams of narcotics (10 kilograms and 550 grams of marijuana and 50 grams of opium) were discovered and seized.
Operational-investigative measures on the facts are ongoing.
