The existing transmission capacity of the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) can be increased to 31 billion cubic meters per year, TANAP CEO Saltuk Düzyol said during his speech at the 12th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and the 4th Ministerial Meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, TANAP’s current annual transmission capacity stands at 16.2 billion cubic meters. Of this volume, 5.7 billion cubic meters are used for Türkiye’s domestic market, while 10.2 billion cubic meters are transported to Europe.
Saltuk Düzyol noted that TANAP was commissioned on June 30, 2018, and gas supplies to Europe began on December 30, 2018. To date, a total of 49.8 billion cubic meters of gas have been delivered to Europe and 5.9 billion cubic meters to Türkiye.
He stated that technical and commercial studies have been conducted regarding the pipeline’s expansion, scenarios for increasing transmission capacity have been developed, and the relevant technical requirements have been identified.
The TANAP head added that 2025 has been declared the “year of digital transformation” within the company. In this context, a special project has been implemented to digitalize greenhouse gas emissions management and sustainability reporting.
