"Initial proposals for the creation of a green energy concept in Nakhchivan have been submitted by the Boston Consulting Group. We will present them to the government,” Deputy Minister of Energy Orkhan Zeynalov told APA TV, APA-Economics reports.
He stated that the technical potential for green energy in Nakhchivan is estimated at 21–29 gigawatts, while the economic potential is between 5.7–7 gigawatts, mainly related to solar energy. Considering the high radiation levels in Nakhchivan, these are truly significant figures.
Orkhan Zeynalov added that once green capacities are established in Nakhchivan, their export to Türkiye is planned: “In this direction, several interconnector options are being reviewed. Export scenarios of 0.5 gigawatts, 1 gigawatt, 1.5 gigawatts, and up to 3 gigawatts are under consideration. These are being evaluated in relevant technical working groups jointly with the Turkish side,” he added.
