Russia's "Gazprom" has started supplying gas to SPP, Slovakia's largest state energy supplier, through the Turkish Stream starting from February 1, said  the head of SPP, Vojtech Ferencz, APA-Economic reports citing foreign media.

According to him, the gas supply will double starting from April. The contract with Gazprom Export is valid until 2034.

"We are not canceling it (the contract – ed.)," Vojtech Ferencz emphasized.

Note that on January 1, Russia suspended its gas transit through Ukrainian territory to Europe due to Kyiv's refusal to extend the contract. Slovakia had been receiving gas through this transit route as well.

Recall that starting SOCAR has launched supplying gas to Slovakia's SPP company since December 1, 2024. The gas supply is being carried out within the framework of a short-term pilot agreement between SOCAR and SPP. The companies aim to develop a longer-term energy partnership.
