Monthly fixed tariffs for gas and electricity in Azerbaijan will not exceed 1 manat, said Deputy Minister of Energy Orkhan Zeynalli during discussions at today’s session of the Milli Majlis on the new draft law “On Gas Supply” and proposed amendments to the law “On Electricity,” APA reports.

He emphasized that the main goal of introducing fixed tariffs is to improve service quality and ensure a fairer distribution of costs among consumers.

The deputy minister noted that this will not be achieved by increasing tariffs, but rather by restructuring existing consumption tariffs based on the nature of incurred costs: “At the same time, this innovation has been outlined in the draft law ‘On Electric Power’. The introduction of a fixed tariff will create an economic basis for slightly reducing the tariff burden for consumers who pay for electricity monthly.

As for the financial capacity of the fixed tariff, according to our calculations, the actual costs allocated for this purpose are estimated to be less than 2% of the total expenses. The fixed tariff level will not exceed 1 manat per month for each subscriber.”
