Negotiations with Lukoil-Moldova (a subsidiary of one of the largest Russian oil companies, Lukoil) on the application of US sanctions on the territory of the republic are proceeding positively, TASS wrote, citing Moldovan Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu, APA-Economics reports.

"They are coming forward, the conversation and negotiations are proceeding on a fairly positive note, that is, there is openness. But some final decisions, of course, will be agreed [with the leadership]," Junghietu noted.

According to him, Lukoil-Moldova accounts for about 50% of the republic's gasoline imports and 30% of diesel fuel imports. In addition, the company owns about 20% of all gas stations, and it also serves Chisinau airport. As for Chisinau airport, Lukoil-Moldova has already transferred the fuel complex there to the state for free use.

“In parallel, negotiations are underway to acquire this infrastructure. Assets are being assessed,” the minister stressed.

He added that the oil company has already received offers to acquire gas stations in the country.

Earlier, Dorin Junghietu noted that from November 21, Lukoil will lose the opportunity to continue its activities in Moldova due to the republic’s accession to sanctions.

Recall that on October 22, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on Lukoil and its subsidiaries, in which it owns more than 50% of the shares. All transactions with them must be completed by November 21. The European Union, as part of the 19th sanctions package announced on October 23, imposed restrictions on Litasco Middle East DMCC, the trading unit of Lukoil based in Dubai.
