"After the crisis in 2022, South European countries faced problems in acquiring energy resources, and in this context, Azerbaijan's role as a major gas producer became more prominent," said Marika Karagianni, a professor at Democritus University of Thrace in Greece, during a panel session on "Facing the New World Order: Expectations from Economic Transformation and Digital Revolution" at the 7th ADA Political Forum, APA reports.

According to her, in her country, Azerbaijan is seen as having a crucial role in the diversification of energy resources in Europe and in supplying "green energy" to Europe via relevant routes:

"Of course, crises like these and the depletion of energy resources have once again highlighted the importance of using 'green energy.' Countries like Azerbaijan, as well as Egypt, Tunisia, and Israel, have significant potential in producing and exporting alternative energy sources. We believe that Azerbaijan can play a key role in supplying green energy to Europe via relevant routes in the diversification of energy resources in Europe. Countries located in Central Asia and the Caspian region are future major and reliable energy suppliers for Europe. Central and Northern European countries also need energy market diversification. This step will further promote the use of green energy resources."
