The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) under the Department of Energy has updated its forecast for daily global demand for liquid hydrocarbons for 2025–2026, APA-Economics reports, citing EIA’s monthly report.
Global daily demand for liquid hydrocarbons this year will average 103.72 million barrels, which is 0.18 million barrels more than the previously stated forecast.
According to EIA’s forecast, this figure is expected to reach 104.91 million barrels in 2026 (previous forecast – 104.59 million barrels).
It is noted that in 2024, the average daily global demand for liquid hydrocarbons amounted to 102.74 million barrels, which is an increase of 0.6 million barrels compared to the 2023 figure (102.14 million barrels).
Recall that in 2022, the average daily global demand for liquid hydrocarbons was 99.15 million barrels. In 2021, this figure was 97.56 million barrels; in 2020 – 91.81 million barrels; and in 2019, the figure stood at 101.23 million barrels.
