"By the end of this year, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway line will be fully ready for the export of oil products," said Emil Mammadov, advisor to the chairman of Azerbaijan Railways, during the "Caspian and Central Asia Oil Trading and Logistics Forum" organized by GLENMAR Group, APA reports.
According to him, oil products are classified as hazardous cargo, and specific preparations are being made for their transport.
"Work to align with relevant standards is nearing completion," Mammadov stated.
He also mentioned that reconstruction work on the BTK railway line has been completed, increasing its annual capacity to 5 million tons.
Mammadov added that currently, dry and containerized cargo is being transported along the line, and oil product transport will be possible by the end of the year.
