Last year, the average price of Brent benchmark crude oil stood at USD 69 per barrel, which represents a decrease of nearly 17% year-on-year, APA-Economics reports, citing the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) under the U.S. Department of Energy.
According to the information, the average monthly price of Brent crude oil fell from USD 79 in January to USD 63 in December, which is the lowest monthly average since early 2021.
“Even after taking inflation into account, the annual average price was USD 69 per barrel, which is the lowest level since 2020,” the report notes.
It is noted that in 2025, oil prices generally declined as global supply outpaced demand. The increase in oil inventories in China somewhat softened the decline in prices.
“Events such as Israel’s attacks on Iran on June 13 and attacks by Russia and Ukraine on oil infrastructure periodically supported prices,” the report emphasized.
