The volume of cargo transported by sea in Azerbaijan in January-July 2025 amounted to 5,395 thousand tons, an increase of 10% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, APA-Economics reports, citing the monthly report of the State Statistical Committee.
According to the report, 48.2% of the cargo transported during the reporting period was oil cargo.
"Seaports carried out loading and unloading operations in the amount of 7,906.7 thousand tons, and 6,399 thousand tons or 80.9 percent of the cargo was transit cargo. As of August 1, 2025, the volume of cargo remaining in the ports was 338.6 thousand tons," the report notes.
It is noted that the number of passengers transported by this type of transport during the period decreased by 5.7% compared to the corresponding period of 2024 and amounted to 14.8 thousand people.
