In January–September of this year, gas losses in Azerbaijan’s main gas pipelines amounted to 34.6 million cubic meters, which is 16.9% higher in an annual comparison, the State Statistical Committee told APA-Economics.
During the corresponding period in 2024, gas losses across the country’s pipelines amounted to 29.6 million cubic meters.
Note that in January–September of this year, 29,825 million cubic meters of gas were transported through Azerbaijan’s main gas pipelines, showing an increase of 0.9% compared to the corresponding period last year.
57.5% of gas transportation was carried out through the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum South Caucasus pipeline. Gas produced at the ‘Shah Deniz’ gas-condensate field is exported through this pipeline. During the reporting period, 17,135.6 million cubic meters of gas were transported through this pipeline (an increase of 1.98%).
Recall that in 2024, gas losses in Azerbaijan’s main gas pipelines amounted to 47.3 million cubic meters, which is 20.9% lower in an annual comparison.
Last year, 40,348.3 million cubic meters of gas were transported through Azerbaijan’s main gas pipelines, showing a 2.7% increase compared to the previous year. 56.6% of gas transportation was carried out through the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum South Caucasus pipeline. During the reporting period, 22,851.9 million cubic meters of gas were transported through this pipeline (an increase of 4.3%).
