The 3rd meeting of deputy ministers of these countries was held in Istanbul, Türkiye, to discuss the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey-Bulgaria Green Energy Corridor project, APA-Economics reports.
A delegation led by Deputy Minister of Energy Orkhan Zeynalov was represented at the meeting. At the event, information was provided on Azerbaijan's current strategy in the field of energy transition, renewable energy potential, and steps taken towards the export of green energy. Projects implemented in Azerbaijan to create green energy zones and realize wind energy potential in the Caspian Sea, as well as green energy corridors that will connect Azerbaijan with Europe, were discussed.
The meeting discussed the draft of the “Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Green Energy Transmission between the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye and the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Bulgaria”, prepared to expand the possibilities of electricity exchange between the four countries and to form a contractual-legal framework for the project, and the text of the document was agreed upon.
Within the framework of the visit, a wide-ranging meeting was held with the Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Türkiye, Zafer Demircan, to discuss the issue of establishing a green energy corridor between Azerbaijan and Türkiye. The meeting provided information on the work done to prepare the Concept and Action Plan for the development of a green energy zone in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and discussed issues arising from the technical and economic justification of infrastructure projects that will support the export of green energy with the participation of experts from the BCG consulting company, representatives of “Azerenergy” OJSC and the Turkish Electricity Transmission Company (TEİAŞ).
