A meeting was held between Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov and Minister of Economy of the Sultanate of Oman Said bin Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Saqri, the ministry told APA-Economics.
During the meeting information was presented on Azerbaijan’s historical experience in oil production, its important role in energy security as a natural gas supplier, as well as projects being implemented in the field of renewable energy production and export. The electricity, fiber-optic, and hydrogen components of the “Caspian–Black Sea–Europe Green Energy Corridor” were discussed. Views were also exchanged on the establishment of data centers and their electricity supply, as well as on encouraging investments in this area.
During the talks, Oman’s sustained investments in the oil and gas sector were noted. It was emphasized that this sector will remain important for both Oman and the world for a long time. It was stated that Oman is investing in liquefied natural gas (LNG) production and aims to become one of the region’s major exporters in this field. It was also noted that four large solar industrial parks are already operating in the country, and the target is to meet 40% of energy needs from renewable sources by 2040. It was highlighted that Oman plans to produce 1 million tons of “green hydrogen” by 2030.
At the meeting, it was agreed to identify areas of cooperation within the framework of documents signed between the two countries in the oil and gas sector, to produce solar panels and wind turbines, and to assess cooperation opportunities across the entire energy sector.
