Azerbaijan and Kenya sign energy cooperation agreement

Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov held an online meeting with Kenyan Energy and Petroleum Minister James Opiyo Wandayi, APA-Economics reports citing the ministry.

A Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the energy sector was signed between the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum of the Republic of Kenya. It was noted that the Memorandum of Understanding defines a strategic roadmap for broad and multifaceted cooperation based on mutual interests and potential opportunities in the energy sector of the two countries. The document covers the oil and gas sectors, including LNG, electricity, and renewable energy, as well as cooperation in promoting joint investments, improving energy networks, and ensuring energy security. According to the memorandum, the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum of Kenya, as well as SOCAR and Kenyan oil and gas companies, will cooperate in potential areas. It is envisaged to establish a Joint Working Group to address the issues arising from the memorandum.
