Azerbaijan takes over management of about 30 gas distribution stations in Georgia

The agreement was signed by SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev and Georgian Minister of Economic Development Lasha Zhvania.
Georgian Minister said Azerbaijan continues to channel investment into the different areas of Georgian economy irrespective of the global financial crisis.
“We highly appreciate these efforts,†he added.
Rovnag Abdullayev added that SOCAR will invest $40 million in the gas distribution network it took over.
According to him, the investment will go to the construction of new pipelines and rehabilitation of the existing network.
He added that the number of gas subscribers is expected to rise to 300 000 in Georgia as a result of the planned activities.
According to him, the price of gas will be appropriate to the market prices.
The agreement also envisions provision of the areas where Azerbaijanis live densely with natural gas.
Rovnag Abdullayev also attended the opening ceremonies for its subsidiary company SOCAR Georgia’s new chain filling station and customer care service in Tbilisi.
He is due to be hosted by Georgian President and Prime Minister too.
