Mazahir Panahov: Tendency of using minor shortcomings against countryâ€™s development by exaggerating them relatively high

Mazahir Panahov, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) said this during a meeting at the Knowledge Foundation under the Azerbaijani President, APA reports.

Panahov said if the electoral fraud he had seen in Germany happened in Azerbaijan, it would cause a stir, noting that the priority issue is to eliminate the shortcomings.

“Name of one of the candidates was not written in the ballot papers. I asked, what would be? They remained very quiet, no representative of any political force suggested that it could be done deliberately, they said that it was due to a technical problem. It is not hard to predict what statements would have been issued by a number of political forces, if it happened in Azerbaijan. When representatives of some political forces saw someone with two ID cards in hand, they said that they lost the elections as a result of it,” he said.

CEC Chairman also spoke about the reasons of high rating of the government.

“The President has high rating, as he is in regular contact with people, interested in their living conditions and trying to improve them.”
