CEC abolishes Ali Ahmadov’s parliamentary mandate

APA reports that the agenda of the meeting included confirmation of the CEC meetings’ protocols dated October 16-17, termination of MP Ali Ahmadov’s authorities, changes in the composition of Khazar Constituency Election Commission #14, consideration of the appeal received by the CEC.

Making a keynote speech Mazahir Panahov spoke about November 12 – Constitution Day. They passed decision on the first issue. Following this, they considered the abolishment of the parliamentary mandate of Ali Ahmadov, deputy chairman and executive secretary of New Azerbaijan Party (YAP).

CEC secretary Arifa Mukhtarova said that Ali Ahmadov had been appointed as Deputy Prime Minister by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. According to the 4th paragraph of Article #89 of the Constitution, a parliamentarian should resign before s/he takes position in state bodies.

He said that Ahmadov appealed to the CEC on October 28 for the abolishment of his parliamentary mandate.

The issue was put up for discussion and passed. Ali Ahmadov’s parliamentary mandate was abolished.
