Noting that Turkey-Azerbaijan relations is unique in the world, the Azerbaijani President said the history, ethnic roots, common culture and political-economic interests unite the two countries: “There are many nations in the world that are close to each other, but in any case, they are not so close as Azerbaijan and Turkey. Our unity and alliance have been established basing on deep historical roots. Turkey was the first country to recognize Azerbaijan’s independence. Azerbaijan-Turkey relations are priority of our foreign policy. These relations determine our foreign policy. Turkey is the closest friend, brother and ally for us."
Noting that Azerbaijan-Turkey alliance has reached a new stage in the recent years, Ilham Aliyev said these relations are an important factor for the region and the entire world.
"Our unity influences the ongoing processes in the region. Turkey-Azerbaijan unity is the major condition for regional cooperation, regional security," he said.
President said the projects jointly implemented by Azerbaijan and Turkey focus on the future. Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude to Turkey's leadership for supporting Azerbaijan.
