Azerbaijan establishes Joint Group on Human Rights

According to her, organizational issues were mainly discussed at the meeting.

“At the meeting, it was decided to rename the Working Group as the Joint Group on Human Rights. Head of the Department on Work with Law Enforcement of the Azerbaijan President Administration Fuad Alasgarov and Head of the Azerbaijani Delegation to PACE Samad Seyidov was elected as co-chairs of the group and human rights activists Saadat Bananyarli and Sahib Mammadov as secretariat members. We will prepare proposals for the secretariat at the next meeting,” she said.

Gojamanli praised the outcomes of the meeting.

“All problems can be solved through negotiations. Today, representatives of civil societies and state authorities can jointly discuss problems. I hope our activities will continue further,” she said.

Recall that the Working Group on Human Rights functioned in 2005-2008. The group included representatives of the government and parliament, as well as human rights defenders.
