For the first time, 25 out of 26 political parties participated in the elections with candidates.
“There is a high political will to establish an environment of political dialogue,” said Adalat Valiyev, Head of the Department for Relations with Political Parties and Legislative Authority of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, APA reports.
The department head said that one of the significant events of 2024 was the snap parliamentary elections held in the Milli Majlis: "For the first time in our independence history, as well as in our parliamentary history, 25 out of 26 political parties participated in the election with candidates, and the participation rate was 99%. As usual, the only party that displayed irrational behavior and withdrew with aggression was the People's Front Party. For comparison, I must mention that in the 2020 parliamentary elections, the participation rate was approximately three times lower – 36.4% – and out of 62 political parties, only 20 participated in the election. In addition, of the 991 candidates registered in the parliamentary elections, 305 were nominated by political parties, constituting 30.7% of all candidates. In the 2020 parliamentary elections, however, 246 candidates were nominated by political parties, accounting for 18.7% of all candidates."
