Those importing genetically modified crops to Azerbaijan to be fined

APA reports that informing about the draft, chairman of the committee Eldar Ibrahimov said that the document undersigned by President was submitted to the Azerbaijani Parliament. It was noted that article 120-1 was annexed to the code. It covers the violation of the legislation on conservation and efficient use of genetic resources of cultivated plants.

According to the amendments, individuals will be fined AZN 200-300, officials AZN 500-600, legal entities AZN 1500-2000 over the violation of the legislation. It is proposed to fine individuals AZN 3000, officials AZN 10 000, legal entities AZN 50 000 over import and state registration of the genetically modified crops, with the exception of scientific studies, test and exhibition.

Following the discussions, the Agrarian Policy Committee recommended the draft law to the plenary meeting of the parliament.
