Public Chamber establishes Political Prisoners' Rights Protection Committee

Baku. Ramil Mammadli – APA. The Public Chamber has established the Committee for Protection of Political Prisoners' Rights.

APA reports that the decision was made at today’s constituent meeting of the Committee.

The chairman of Public Union "Support to Democracy and Civil Society Development ", human rights activist Vidadi Isgandarli’s brother Ogtay Isgandarli was appointed as the head of the committee, the chairman of the Musavat Party Youth Organization Tural Abbasli and advisor to the chairman of Azerbaijan Popular Front Party Sahib Karimov were appointed as deputies.

Tural Abbasli told APA that the purpose of establishing the Committee for Protection of Political Prisoners' Rights is to focus on the issue of the persons arrested for political reasons, take measures for their release. About 15 PC members have already been admitted to the Committee.
