Opposition parties hold meeting on Ismayilli incidents

Baku. Ramil Mammadli – APA. The meeting on Ismayilli incidents was held with the participation of opposition parties’ leaders at the headquarters of the Musavat Party. Speaking about the incidents in Ismayilli, chairman of Musavat Party Isa Gambar criticized the government's position in the issue, APA reports.

Chairman of Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (APFP) Ali Karimli called on the government to properly analyze such rallies and draw conclusion: “We should not come together only in such cases. This is a serious beginning and we can continue it”.

Chairman of Hope Party Igbal Agazadeh expressed his concern over arrests in Ismayilli. He offered political parties to cooperate in this area and develop a work plan.

Democratic Party Chairman Sardar Jalaloglu said that the incidents pose threat not only to the statehood of Azerbaijan but also to the opposition: “This is gratifying that dissatisfied people are protesting. However, this situation may cause concern for democratic values. These people can not benefit from revolution. The government should immediately start a dialogue with the opposition to avoid Azerbaijan’s turning into Syria. It is necessary to propose joint reforms”.
