He said that national leaders play an important role in the fate of their nation even after the death: “An important part of Azerbaijani history is related with the merits of Heydar Aliyev. Azerbaijan gained economic and political independence within this period. Today's powerful Azerbaijan is the fruit of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s devotion to the people.”
Asadov said that though Armenians wanted to give a special status to Nagorno-Karabakh in the 1977 Constitution of the USSR with the help of their patrons, Aliyev prevented it. The Azerbaijani language became the official language in the Azerbaijani Constitution of 1978. Following this, Aliyev implemented expedient plans to increase political, economic and military potential of Azerbaijan. Military high schools were opened in Baku to prepare military personnel: “All of his merits became the basis for the independence of Azerbaijan.”
Speaker noted that Heydar Aliyev was speaker of parliament for 4 months, after he returned to power in 1993: “Azerbaijani Parliament was discussing democratically all issues of concern of the people in that period. Heydar Aliyev eliminated the government crisis that brought the country to the verge of disintegration, prevented civil war, laid the foundation of today's powerful Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan began to take a descent place by integrating into the world. Today Azerbaijan is strengthening its descent place among the countries of the world. Azerbaijani Parliament has always supported National Leader Heydar Aliyev in these activities.”
Asadov said the fate placed special responsibility on Heydar Aliyev: “He felt it, too. Azerbaijan built painstakingly by Heydar Aliyev is in safe hands. President Ilham Aliyev is successfully continuing this policy.”
