Isa Gambar holds press conference on attack he underwent in Lankaran

“We will try to prove that this was committed by the local executive authorities, as the police did not take any steps to prevent assailants.”

Isa Gambar called it an assassination attempt. He showed the journalists the stone thrown at them during the incident. Reminding his call to “102” service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the leader of the party said that they would not appeal to police any more and bring the case to the court: “We will get to the bottom of the issue”.

Answering the questions, he said he does believe that department chief of Presidential Administration Zeynal Nagdaliyev have a finger in the pie: “He was my fellow student, we had very good relations. We even protected each other in brawls when we were young. Zeynal can not act so, as I know him.”

Note that leader of Musavat Party Isa Gamber went to Lankaran to attend the party's regional conference on January 13. Gambar’s cortege was attacked in Lankaran. As a result, several persons accompanying the leader were injured.

Lankaran region police office told APA's local bureau that they had not received information on the incident. Deputy Head of the Executive Power of Lankaran Elnur Huseynov denied the accusations addressed to them: “We were unaware of Isa Gambar’s arrival in Lankaran and heard about the incident later. We were informed that the martyrs’ families, low-income persons have blocked the road and protested his arrival. The crowd said he came to break public order again and demanded the opposition to leave Lankaran. Accusations made against the local executive authorities are completely groundless.”
