The Azerbaijani Parliament told APA that amendments are being made to article 6 of the law “On exit from the Country, entry into the Country, and about Passports”.
According to amendment made to the 5th part of the article, diplomatic passport, as issued to the Azerbaijani President, will be also issued to former president and his/her spouse for life. State tax will not be imposed on this.
The valid version of the article says: “Diplomatic passport is given to the Azerbaijani President, speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament, Prime Minister, chairman of the Constitutional Court and Foreign Minister for life. This passport gives diplomatic immunity abroad. All authorized officials are to provide assistance to the owner of the diplomatic passport and the persons named there in crossing the border freely and safely and in other necessary circumstances.
The draft law has already been recommended to the Azerbaijani Parliament’s plenary meeting by the Committee on legal policy and state building.
