Richard Quest touched on the recent news about the relations between Azerbaijan and BP. He mentioned that BP’s relations with Russia’s Rosneft company strengthened and asked whether Russia could interfere in Azerbaijan through BP.
“First of all, of course we are not concerned. First of all, BP is a company which is present in Azerbaijan almost since the very beginning of our independence, since 1994. It is the history of relationship of almost 20 years, very friendly relationship, partnership relationship, and also the relationship, which will continue for at least 20 years more, because the projects which we are now implementing jointly with BP aim at future. So, I am not concerned about any other issues, which BP is pursuing with other partners,” he said.
Ilham Aliyev said Azerbaijan’s economy is very stable.
“We managed to develop even in the years of economic crisis. Azerbaijan’s economy is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. We managed to triple our GDP in less than 10 years. Now the economy is more diversified. My main objective now is to attract investments into non-energy sector of Azerbaijan, particularly in high tech, IT and services,” he said.
