Baku – APA. “Currently, 55 political parties, more than 2700 NGOs and about 4800 media outlets have been registered in Azerbaijan. Internet, media and information activity are fully free in Azerbaijan, the journalists have right to get or spread information freely,” chief of socio-political department of the Presidential Administration Ali Hasanov said in his interview to the website of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), APA reports.
Hasanov said that 70 percent of the people are internet users: “Every hundred people have more than 20 modern computers in Azerbaijan. The internet tariff has been reduced more than 10 times over the last three years and was lower than the tariffs in the regional countries. Today, there are nearly one million Facebook users in the country with a population of 9 million and thousands of bloggers. Azerbaijan is going to launch its artificial satellite.”
The PA official regretted that the organizations such as Freedom House, Article XIX, Human Rights Watsh, Amnesty International, Reporters Without Borders were actively participating in the tendentious campaigns against Azerbaijan.
He said the law can not insure a journalist or human right activist against a crime in any country.
“But in Azerbaijan persons, who committed concrete crimes hiding behind the journalist certificate, are immediately included into the lists and described as heroes. Due to this biased approach, the so-called “international cooperation group” was established by Article XlX organization in 2010, it is carrying out anti-Azerbaijan campaign. President Ilham Aliyev repeatedly exposed the forces backing the anti-Azerbaijan campaigns. They are Armenian lobby, some hypocrite politicians under their influence, forces that do not admit Azerbaijan’s independent policy and the country’s development,” he said.
