New number of Azerbaijani citizens missing due to Armenia

A new number of Azerbaijani citizens missing as a result of Armenia's military aggression has been revealed, Eldar Samadov, Deputy Head of the Working Group of the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons of the Republic of Azerbaijan, said in an interview with APA.

"It is known to the public that before the Patriotic War, 3,890 people were registered as missing persons as a result of Armenia's military aggression against Azerbaijan by the State Commission. Currently, according to information as of 01.02.2025, 3,983 people are registered as missing persons as a result of Armenia's military aggression against Azerbaijan by the State Commission. Of them, 3,977 went missing in the First Garabagh War, and in the Patriotic War," Eldar Samadov noted.

Out of 3,983 people, 3,209 are military personnel, 774 are civilians. Of the civilians, 75 are minors, 116 are women, and 315 are elderly: "Currently, the State Commission Working Group is investigating several appeals regarding the disappearance of our citizens in the First Garabagh War. Given that the appeals are ongoing, it is not ruled out that this will not be the final number."
