“In connection with the extraordinary parliamentary elections, the process of nominating candidates to be Member of Parliament within the single-mandate constituencies has already begun,” Secretary of the Central Election Commission Arife Mukhtarova said at the meeting of the Central Election Commission (CEC) held today, APA reports.
She said that after the official publication of the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the scheduling of elections, citizens with the right to passive suffrage - on their own initiative, voter initiative groups, political parties, blocs of political parties, can start nominating candidates for single-mandate constituencies: "The district election commissions (DEC) make a reasoned decision on whether or not to approve the candidacy within 5 days after the documents are submitted to the election commission."
