Public Affairs Officer of U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan Jonathan Henick bids farewell to Azerbaijani journalists

U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Anne Derse said Jonathan Henick had been on diplomatic service for 25 years.
â€œHe had worked in the field of public affairs for the first time in Azerbaijan. He was awarded by the Department of State for his activity. Within his three-year activity in Azerbaijan Jonathan Henick established splendid professional and personal relations with journalists and made statements on urgent issues. He will teach at the university in Hawaii and work in diplomatic mission in East Timorâ€, the Ambassador said.
Jonathan Henick said his successor Terry Davidson will arrive in Azerbaijan in three weeks. The diplomat expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijani journalists and said the task was hard and honourable.
â€œHere journalists serve both professionalism and political interests. One can’t do two things at the same time. Professional journalism is the best means for the development of democracy. The US will always support freedom of media in Azerbaijanâ€, he said.
