PACE makes statement on 90th anniversary of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic

Ganira Pashayeva, member of Azerbaijani delegation to PACE has prepared a statement. To her, the document has been signed by more than 20 deputies from different countries.
â€œAzerbaijan - First Democratic Republic of the Eastâ€ Declaration covers 90th anniversary of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
â€œAzerbaijani Democratic Republic was the first Parliamentary Republic in the East. ADR supported Human Rights, irrespective of its separation as a result of occupation of Azerbaijan committed by Red Army. ADR gave voting right to women, when there was not such right in the West. The Parliament of ADR, which established values in 1918 that formed on Europe ensured freedom of peopleâ€, the statement says. The statement covers that ADR played a great role in the development of culture in the region, expansion of democratic values in the region, East and Muslim World. ADR was a bridge between the East and the West and contributed to cross-civilizational dialogue. The Council of Europe highly estimated measures taken by ADR. Moreover, the Council of Europe supports continuation of role of ADR by current Azerbaijanâ€, the statement says.
