Rasul Guliyev: Azadliq alliance may be regarded as an organization about to ruin
- How do you appreciate the decision of Azadliq alliance Board of Chairs on dismissing Azerbaijan Democrat Party (ADP) from the alliance?
- I have a double approach to the decision. First of all I regret that the decision questioned the alliance’s existence. Azadliq alliance without ADP seems as an agreement of two parties. The shortcomings of the alliance’s leaders caused crisis in the alliance, now the alliance may be regarded as an organization about to ruin. It is fiasco to reach an agreement with the shadow of the politician. How can a strong opposition coalition be formed without Rasul Guliyev? Besides, I am grateful to the Azadliq alliance for dismissing me. But I respect one of the alliance leaders Lale Shovkat Hajiyeva. I have no doubt that she and Ali Kerimli are sincere. But I want to mention that the policy based on personal relations will not be a success. Opposition based on criticizing somebody will not have positive results. Partner’s influence among the people plays the main role in the politics. Comparing me with a man having no influence will damage their image.
- Azadliq alliance Board of Chairs linked this decision with ADP’s intention to conduct dialogue with the government. Do you see any ground of this argument?
- I first abolished this decision and then 45 members of the Supreme Council abolished it. So their arguments are obscure.
- Do you know the main reason of this decision?
- Yes I do. But I do not want to publicize it now. I think that the Azadliq alliance should reconsider the decision.
- How do you think who caused ADP’s separation?
- I do not accept the term ADP’s separation. The separation can only happen in the congress. Besides, different forces always tried to destroy ADP, but could not achieve their goal. I regret that the ones who wanted to destroy the party used the methods out of ethics. Those who forget about their past consider that I will not release information about them, but I have enough information about the financial support given to them and their families.
- Sardar Jalaloglu has got the stamp and certificate of ADP. Do you intend to fight with Sardar Jalaloglu for ADP, or you will change the name of the party?
- The biggest organizations took the stamps and documents with themselves in June-July of 1993, or some froze their activity, it does not have any importance, this kind of things happen in Azerbaijan. It is not difficult to go and get new stamp. Now they are afraid and keep the stamps in the safe. I want to tell them not be afraid of anything, if they wish another parties can also give them stamp. To change the name of the party is the competence of the members of the congress; let them do what they consider right.
- Do you think to cooperate with any opposition party after all these? Is it right that you are getting close to Musavat?
- I have not refused to cooperate with progressive forces in Azerbaijan, and will never do it. Because this is the only way out of the situation. We should not be indulged in illusions; we lost in the elections to alliances existing in 2003 and 2005. We have lost people’s confidence. We can speak of future without analyzing all these, getting any result and finding a way out. That is why if we do not achieve to join not only opposition parties, but also all progressive forces of Azerbaijan under one flag, it will mean that we have solved the fortune of 2008 elections beforehand. We should not forget the presidential elections are not parliamentary elections, there is no compromise here. That is why I will try to cooperate not only with Musavat but also with all opposition parties. /APA/
