Baku. Parvin Abbasov – APA. “The emergence of some problems on BP was expected”, economist deputy Vahid Ahmedov told journalists, APA reports. He said that signing of the “Contract of the Century” in 1994 was the demand of time: “The contract was signed at a ratio 20/80, 20% of it belonged to Azerbaijan and 80% to international organizations. In 2008, when ratio was 75/25 BP violated international commitments. As a result, the government of Azerbaijan failed to gain approximately $8.1 billion. The government of Azerbaijan should have reacted to it in time. The violation of commitments should be prevented, Azerbaijan should gain $8,1 billion. BP should seriously think about it. Of course, these are economic issues, but they also have political sides. It should be taken into account and efforts should be made so that Azerbaijan gains it. I don’t believe that the contract with BP will be terminated and the company will be replaced by another one. But it is necessary to solve this problem, if necessary on the level of international court.”
