US House Subcommittee Chairman: â€œWe highly appreciate Azerbaijanâ€™s participation in anti-terror operationsâ€

The press service of the parliament told APA that Asadov said Azerbaijan attached great importance to the relations with the United States. The relations have been developed in all spheres in the past period. The countries have signed 75 documents in the economic, political, cultural and humanitarian fields. The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the US were more than $2 billion last year.
The relations between the legislative organizations of the countries are also developing rapidly.

Chairman of Milli Mejlis congratulated the newly-appointed US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar, who also attended the meeting.

Dan Burton expressed satisfaction with his visit to Azerbaijan. Speaking about the countryâ€™s dynamic development, the Congressman said they were astonished at the administrative building of the parliament and conditions created for the parliamentarians. The US Congressman said regaining of independence by Azerbaijan and 20 years of Azerbaijan-US diplomatic relations were widely marked in the US. He highly appreciated the participation of Azerbaijan in the anti-terror operations. â€œWe accept Azerbaijan as a friendly countryâ€.

The prospects of development of Azerbaijan-US relations, the ways of the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, cooperation in the legislative field, exchange of experience and other issues were discussed at the meeting.

Head of the parliamentâ€™s office Safa Mirzayev, Azerbaijani Ambassador to the US Elin Suleymanov and other officials attended the meeting.
