Baku. Sevil Zeynalgizi-APA. There is a need in Azerbaijan to adopt a law on “Charity”, Deputy Chairman of Social Policy Committee of Azerbaijani Parliament Musa Guliyev told APA.

He said that the activity of businessmen must be stimulated in order to involve them in charitable activity: “Business develops rapidly in Azerbaijan and there are enough wealthy people in the country. The businessmen can spend the insignificant part of their profit on charity work. The work of such businessmen must be popularized and they must be provided with definite tax remissions”.

Guliyev said that the businessmen can provide any orphanage with money, finance poor students getting education abroad, render material aid to sick people who need medical treatment abroad: “They can realize the programs on house constructions for martyr’s families and homeless people. A charity work has an ancient history in Azerbaijan and currently there are people who are wealthier than Haji Zeynalabdin Tagiyev. But none of them are engaged in charitable activity. Businessmen living in Azerbaijan or abroad, at best, can construct a mosque in one village or repair a school. We must involve such people in charity work in Azerbaijan”.

Member of Parliament also mentioned that the issue on adoption of draft-law on “Charity” in Azerbaijan will be raised at Azerbaijani Parliament’s autumn session.
