President Ilham Aliyev: The problem of unemployment has been solved, poverty has reduced by 5 times in Azerbaijan in the past seven years

The problem of unemployment has been solved, poverty has reduced by 5 times in the past seven years,â€ President Ilham Aliyev said at the at the event organized by the Association for Civil Society Development in Azerbaijan (ACSDA) on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Azerbaijanâ€™s state independence, APA reports.

Noting that the pensions had been increased by 40 percent, the head of state said 70 percent of the economy of the South Caucasus accounted for Azerbaijan’s economy.
â€œLiberal economic situation, political reforms, solution of social problems have created favorable conditions in the society,â€ he said.

President also underlined that rule of law, freedom of expression had been ensured in the country.
â€œThe reforms are being carried out in Azerbaijan. Our main goal is to create a modern state,â€ he said.

Touching on the European Union â€“ Azerbaijan relations, Ilham Aliyev underlined that our country was cooperating with the European Union not only in energy issues, but also in other spheres.
â€œOur relations will be further strengthened. European Union â€“ Azerbaijan relations have been established on mutual respect and confidence,â€ he said.
