Azerbaijani President becomes familiar with reconstruction of some facilities in Shamakhi, attends the opening of Sabirâ€™s monument

According to APA, the Head of State was informed that the reconstruction work was started there last year.

The Head of State watched a film, which shows the views of Olympic Hotel to be constructed in the region.

A new 1500-sq.m sports hall is being built in the complex for facilitating training sessions. It will contain home gym, fitness, conference halls and sauna. All playgrounds around will have new roofs.

President Aliyev became familiar with the stadium as well. The stadium with 2000-seat grandstand is constructed in accordance with the international standards. The construction of grandstand and field has already been completed. A six-strip race track and eight modern cottages are also constructed there. The cottages will host totally 60 people.

The Head of State became acquainted with reconstruction work in the Shamakhyâ€™s Friday Mosque. At first, President Aliyev was informed about the renovation work done around the mosque. Shamakhyâ€™s Friday Mosque was built in 743 and is one of the ancient Muslim praying houses in the South Caucasus and Middle East.

President was told that overhaul of Shamakhy Friday mosque started in March, 2010. According to the general plan, the construction of the two-storey administrative building, stairs and small bridge was completed. The construction of two minarets has been completed.

As Shamakhy is located in the seismic zone, the foundation of the mosque has been fixed with reinforced concrete constructions. According to the new project, 4-meter entrance door will be built in front of the place for praying. The old cells will be restored, large reconstruction works will be done.

President viewed the stand describing the mosque after overhaul, gave recommendations and instructions.

The Head of State visited Sabir settlement. He attended the opening of monument of great Azerbaijani poet Mirza Alekber Sabir, laid a bunch of flowers at it.

The Head of State became familiar with the process of reconstruction work in Shirvan Hotel.

The building was constructed in 1974, and was used till the last year. Due to the buildingâ€™s unserviceability, the repair work has been started there since February 2010. Total area of 10-storeyed hotel, which has 36 rooms, is 6000 sq. m. The final repair work in the buildingâ€™s interior is being conducted now. The reconstruction work will be finished in December.

The Head of State viewed the hotelâ€™s photos, which describe the hotelâ€™s post-reconstruction period.
