Azerbaijani President: In recent years, budget spending on health in Azerbaijan increased by more than 8 times

The Head of State noted the successful development of cooperation between WHO and Azerbaijan. The President praised WHO Director General Margaret Chanâ€™s the achievements in this area.

Noting that in recent years, budget spending on health in Azerbaijan increased by more than 8 times, the Head of State said that the country has taken concrete steps to ensure the health of citizens, strengthening the material-technical base of health care.

"We have many plans. In Azerbaijan is paid attention to other fields related to health care. Steps are being taken to eliminate environmental problems. Prior to 2013 drinking water for the population in Azerbaijan must meet WHO standards. Azerbaijan attaches great importance for sport as one of the factors for human health. Besides, being a serious struggle with drug addiction. Healthy growth of youth in the future lead to a decrease in health problems", - President Aliyev emphasized.

The President noted that Azerbaijan over the past 7 years is the leader in the global economy, and as a result of this successes the poverty rate declined from 49% to 9%, 125,000 low-income families receive targeted assistance from the state, and retired increased by 40%, in country .

The President stressed that all these steps have a positive effect on human health in this category. "In Azerbaijan Human Development Index over the past 5 years has made the world’s largest development. In terms of economic competitiveness, Azerbaijan also has one of the first places in the world", - Azrbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.
