Baku City Police Office issues statement on the Musavat Party’s attempt to hold mass rally

Baku. Parvin Abbasov – APA. Baku City Police Office issued statement on the Musavat Party’s attempt to hold mass rally on March 12, APA reports. The statement reads that the leadership of the Musavat Party appealed to Baku city Executive Power in order to hold procession from outside of “Praga” restaurant near “Neftchilar” metro to “Tabriz” cinema at Gara Garayev avenue. According to the 1st part of 7th article of the law on “Freedom of assembly”, the executive power offered the holding of the action at the territory of the stadium in Biniheybat settlement of Sabail District, and addressed to the authors of the appeal: “but the action organizers again demonstrated their wish to clash with the governmental bodies, contrary to the demands of that law’s 3rd part of the 12th article. A small group of 150 persons attempted to hold procession in the direction of Nizami Street and Fountains square at 14.00 on March 12. The unsanctioned action was prevented as a result of measures made by the employees of bodies of internal affairs”.

The statement also reads that 50 persons were detained for commitment of malpractice: “the cases of 20 persons, who disobeyed the legal demands of police employees, were sent to the court. 30 people were set free after expository talk with them. The investigation is underway on the fact”.
