New Azerbaijan Party investigates social network calls for 11 March meeting
Gurbanli said that such actions like drawing the country into chaos, fulfilling orders of some forces acting against the interests of the country have been rejected by Azerbaijani nation: “It is rejected today, and will be rejected tomorrow too. I think that only imitation stands behind the uproar raised by Isa Gambar and his supporters. The purpose of this imitation is to show their existence and nothing more. Persons joining their call are less than 0.1% in Azerbaijan. That is why calls will not give any resultâ€.
Gurbanli also took stance on writings about deployment of troops in Baku: “Firstly, there is no need to deploy troops against the nonexistent force. And the second, the duty of Azerbaijani Army is to protect independence and security of our country, especially to repulse Armenian aggression in Karabakh.
The current situation in Azerbaijan is so stable that there is no necessity to use the army against the minority which attempts to take to the streets. There are enough supporters of the policy of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and there are more than 500 thousand members of the New Azerbaijan Party led by him. We have enough power to struggle against some forces in political and ideological plan. That’s why such writings by some newspapers, especially in “Yeni Musavat†and “Azadligâ€, that “the army is deployed†and “exercise is conductedâ€, are nothing but lie. From the other side, if the army conducts exercise, it aims to be strengthened against occupant Armenia but not the Azerbaijani people. They want to confuse public opinion with such writingsâ€.
