According to law, 3 candidates have been nominated for the post of Ombudsman. One of them is incumbent Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova. Another one is Chief of Justice Ministry’s Human Rights and Public Affairs Department Faig Gurbanov. The name of the third candidate is Teymur Malikaslanov, representative of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Azerbaijan.
The issue will be brought up for discussion at the next session of the parliament.
