Chairman of Democracy and Human Rights Committee meets with detained believers

Baku. Ramil Mammadli â€“ APA. Chairman of the Azerbaijan Democracy and Human Rights Committee Chingiz Ganizadeh has met with the believers, who were detained during the clashes between police and believers intending to hold an action on February 13 in Baku. Ganziadeh said he visited them to learn conditions of custody because of some newspapersâ€™ report about use of force against the detainees during the preliminary testimony. The human rights defender said he met with four of detainees and then looked at the conditions of detention. He said he was satisfied with the conditions. â€œThere are kitchen, prayer room, medical point and shower in the isolator. Cells are not crowdedâ€, said Ganizadeh. He said the detainees had not problems with foods, sleeping gears and prayer conditions. They can receive foods from home and they didnâ€™t face with force during the testimonyâ€.

Ganizadeh said one of the detainees asked him to urge his family to hire an attorney for him and another one asked to give him a chance to support his pregnant wife. The human rights defender said he was asking the prosecutorâ€™s office via press to release the defendant conditionally to support his wife.
